The duties and responsibilities of this position: 1. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators,teachers, coaches and others to develop,implement and evaluate a system focused on student's academic, career and personal/social learning needs. 2. Work with colleagues and administrators to develop and implement appropriate guidance curriculum and services - including policies, procedures and other components - to meet the needs of the school community. 3. Provide students, families and staff with accurate information about course offerings that lead to college and careers, assist students in the purposeful selection of course aligned to their academic/career/personal goals, and input student course selections into Powerschool, used to create the master schedule. 4. Assist students with scholarship, college entrance, financial aid, career and apprentice applications to assure completeness, accuracy, quality, and timeline adherence. 5. Provide individual and group services to students related to academic planning and success, career awareness and preparation, and social/emotional development as needed to meet student, school and district goals. 6. Prepare and communicate information to students, teachers, staff, parents, the community, and post-secondary entities through presentations, print and electronic media. 7. Monitor the record systems (cumulative) of students to ensure accurate, relevant, up to date information is maintained and support the release of student records to authorized agencies, educational institutions and individuals in accordance with governing laws and policies, and take necessary precautions to protect students privacy, health, and safety. 8. Advocate and support equitable access to programs and services for all students during/after the school day. 9.Assist in the planning, scheduling and proctoring, as appropriate, of state and local assessments that include, but are not limited to PSAT, SAT, TOEFL, etc. 10.Promote and support the coordination of school activities and resources and communication among home, school, community agencies and business and industry and refer students and their parents to appropriate specialists, special programs and/or outside agencies. 11. Participate in scheduled Education Plan Meetings for students with previous IEP/504 Plans. 12.Any other related duties as may be assigned.
Knowledge of NCAA eligibility and how it relates to student scheduling, college applications, testing, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to support students preparation for college and careers

Demonstrated skills in human relations, effective communication, problem solving and organization.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching practices as outlined in the Connecticut Teaching Standards.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position as evidenced by work experience , course work,educational experience, involvement in professional activities, and the interview process.
And/or any combination of education, experience and knowledge and skills deemed by the designee of the school interviewing committee substantially equivalent to those listed above.
