Reporting to the Director for Administration and Finance for the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP), the incumbent will manage and administer the Institute's financial and budgetary affairs in collaboration with the Directors of the Institute. S/he is responsible for financial operations of the Institute and will coordinate and oversee the daily financial transactions and inquiries that are handled by the Business Office.
Ensuring compliance with university and restricted funds guidelines; prepare and submit departmental fiscal year budgets and quarterly variance reports in collaboration with the Director; manage operational accounts that include analysis of short and long term revenue projections, including tuition and indirect cost revenues; manage indirect cost sharing calculations; works closely with investigators to prepare projections, spending targets, and needed reallocation of funds; oversees monthly financial reports, monitor and audit budgets and grants to avoid overdrafts; oversees the preparation of monthly account reconciliations, financial reports for government and private grants and other unrestricted projects funded by the institute; oversees accounts payable and p-card transactions; provide analytic and problem-solving support to ISERP affiliates and work with investigators and staff to provide options for complicated grant related accounts payable transactions, such as: international research, international conference and events; oversees payroll for bi-weekly support staff, casual, and work-study; as well as, all salary distributions, cost transfers and additional compensation; oversees the financial components of student appointments and their related grant support; supervises and trains Business Office staff members; liaise with the Office of the VP for the Faculty of Arts & Sciences as well as the University's Controllers Office, Sponsored Projects Administration, Sponsored Projects Finance, Purchasing and Accounts Payable; perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or the equivalent required, with at least three years of related experience.
Knowledge of Uniform Guidance Principles and other policies related to grants.
Strong computer skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
Initiative, discretion, tact, and ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks required.
Computer literacy, including proficiency with Excel, and the ability to acquire skills of the University's financial and personnel systems required.
Attention to detail and the ability to understand and clearly present financial information are essential.
Previous work experience in a university setting preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
