The Research Assistant, Faculty Services serves as a research scholar for MSB faculty as well as an overall assistant for special projects. S/he assists the faculty in defining research projects and implementing a variety of research tasks, some of which require a sophisticated set of skills. The Research Assistant will, at times, have to interface with individuals and organizations external to MSB and GU in order to help implement special projects. Reporting to the Director of Faculty Services, t he Research Assistant has duties that include but are not limited to:
Assists the faculty in implementing research projects and instructional course development.
Assists the faculty in defining tasks and methodologies, implementing the special projects and research initiatives.
Performs literature searches using web sources, hard copy sources, and CD ROM products.
Creates tables, charts, and graphics using existing data, preparing materials for submission, and managing and responding to research project related emails.
Prepares interview questions, recruits subjects, and summarizes results, acquiring materials and supplies needed for the project.
Handles database management, including collecting and evaluating data, performing statistical analyses, and creating tables, charts, and graphics, as well as crafting written reports of results.
Maintains accurate records of all data gathered for access by the faculty member, using complex software to achieve required results.
Handles faculty administrative support responsibilities, such as entering grades, reserving rooms, posting to Canvas, correspondence, and scheduling.
Manages student workers assigned to faculty on as-needed basis.
Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred in Business, Public Policy or other relevant field
3 to 5 years of business or research experience
Experience within a global organization is ideal in order to allow a real-world perspective on the research performed and on data collected
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work creatively and independently
Ability to work as part of a team when necessary and familiarity with library search databases
Advanced computer skills, especially with spreadsheets, databases, and statistical analysis software
Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word and be familiar with Google Drive, calendar management, and travel arrangements
Previous supervisory experience (students) is desirable
