The specific focus of the APEX Small Business Liaison position is to coordinate and proactively support all aspects of APEX's small business initiatives. This position will help facilitate effective communications between the APEX program office and the AF small business program office. In this position the APEX Small Business Liaison must promote transparency at all times, always act ethically, promote and ensure compliance, collaborate across APEX and USAF. The APEX Small Business Liaison must support the cultivation of our people as our greatest asset and create an environment that supports innovation and inclusive behaviors.
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in leadership, collaboration and team building.
Minimum 10 years' experience in working with AFRL and or the AF.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the defense and education/research sectors. In particular demonstrated knowledge of research and development business and procurement transactions including, but not limited to: National Academia of Sciences, NSF, NIH, DARPA, AFRL, ONR, AFOSR, LCMC, NASIC, ARL, IARPA, SOCOM, industry and many other government and industry research and development organizations.
Proven leadership and collaboration skills in working with Senior AF leaders and possess superior verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to think creatively and conceptually as well as analytically.
Experience in developing strong relationships with the AF leadership and successfully pitching stories with supporting portfolio.
Demonstrated knowledge of research and development business and procurement transactions including, but not limited to: National Academia of Sciences, NSF, NIH, DARPA, AFRL, ONR, AFOSR, LCMC, NASIC, ARL, IARPA, SOCOM, industry and many other government and industry research and development organizations.
Active relationships with external network of industry and government bodies to gather leading practice insights and discuss new trends and directions and unique marketing and communication opportunities. In particular, experience working with the research and development Programs.
Experience providing organizational leadership support and coordination collaborative multi-discipline programs.
Have had industry and government experience working directly for the government or as a government support contract.

40% Collaboration Support: Oversees, executes, and supports the AF Small Business Program Office to enhance the speed of transactions and support the significant improvement of the business goals for APEX and the AF. Creates and implements communications to support small business engagement plans for multiple business lines. Directly supports the APEX Team and the AF Small Business Program Office to enhance collaboration inside and outside the AF. Supports the implementation of partnerships, networks, idea pipelines and other initiatives to facilitate collaboration across the Air Force with academia and industry to provide the Air Force with innovative cutting-edge technologies faster and smarter.
This position is anticipated to require moderate travel. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.
