DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS , Schwarzman College of Computing (SCC) , to be responsible for the strategic direction, initiatives, planning, and execution of SCC's communications program across all media to deliver its strategic messages to audiences on campus, locally, nationally, and around the world. Will report directly to and serve as principal advisor to the dean on all communications-related matters and serve as a key member of his senior leadership team. Will play a key role in informing and connecting members of the SCC community; other MIT faculty, students, alumni, and staff; and a wide range of potential supporters and advocates, from government leaders to philanthropists. Responsibilities will include managing/working closely with communications teams across CSS and coordinating with communications leaders across MIT; overseeing the development, implementation, and management of SCC's internal and external communications, including content production, digital strategy, media relations, marketing, brand management, and social media; and partnering with senior communications colleagues across the Institute to coordinate the messages and strategies of SCC and MIT.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant field; at least seven years' experience developing and implementing multifaceted, integrated communications programs that elevate the perception of an entire institution with multiple, diverse audiences; keen managerial, strategic planning, and organizational development skills; thorough understanding of traditional, digital, and social media; experience in media relations and crisis communications; outstanding staff- and project-management skills; comprehensive understanding of the communications process, from creative conception through fulfillment; and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
