Job Type: Staff Job Description: The Simulation Technician will support, maintain, and provide equipment utilized in KCU Joplin's Simulation Lab, Skills Training Center, and Standardized Patient center. They will support and maintain the B-Line Medical suite of video-driven learning and assessment software used in both Simulation and Clinical Exam areas and provide training and assistance to faculty, staff, and students in the use and application of the B-Line Medical suite of software. This role works cooperatively with the Information Technology department and assist with daily administrative operation of the simulation lab.
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
Communicate professionally and effectively with course directors and faculty;
Support, maintain, and provide equipment utilized in Simulation Lab and Skills Training Center(s);
Support, maintain, and provide equipment utilized in the Standardized Patient center;
Support and maintain the B-Line Medical suite of video-driven learning and assessment software used in both Simulation and Clinical Exam areas
Provide training and assistance to faculty and staff in the use and application of the B-Line Medical suite of software
Provide support and assistance to students in the use of B-Line Medical for the viewing of grades, assessment exercises, and other activities; work cooperatively with IT;
Assist with daily administrative operation of the simulation lab;
Ensure adequate equipment and supplies for simulation activities;
Utilize simulation methodology for teaching and assessing health professional students;
Develop scenario-based instruction and integration of simulation;
Provide faculty development with the use of simulation and simulation equipment;
Evaluate simulation teaching strategies
Work cooperatively with program faculty and staff as a team member in an integrated curriculum, including course planning, teaching, preparing course materials, and evaluation;
Oversee the control of the simulation manikins during scenario-based training sessions, open days and demonstrations;
Participate in community outreach programs;
Participate on university committees;
Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs;
Work within State and Federal codes, statutes and regulations;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Baccalaureate-level degree or higher
Three (3) years of experience with hi-fidelity simulation manikins for UME/GME programs using simulation as an educational tool.
Facile with center management and manikin software programming.
CHSOS certified or CHSOS eligible within 1 year.
