The North Central College (NCC) Center for Global Education (CGE) provides vision, guidance and leadership for developing and implementing international programs and providing opportunities for global engagement both on and off campus. The CGE houses four strategic areas – Education Abroad, International Student Services and Engagement, the English Language Institute (ELI), and International Enrollment Management.
The International Admissions Counselor/Recruiter will work closely with the Executive Director of the Center for Global Education and the Assistant Director of International Admissions to plan and execute international recruitment activities to meet international enrollment goals within the allotted recruitment budget.
This person will recruit and admit undergraduate degree-seeking international students, as well as students for the English Language Institute (ELI) and serve as a primary international recruiter for specific, identified global target markets (specifically China, and other countries as assigned).
Due to the nature of this position, the International Admissions Counselor/Recruiter must possess strong written and verbal communication skills – communicating effectively, engagingly, and enthusiastically to a variety of different audiences. This person should have strong time management and organization skills, be resourceful and able to multi-task, and work well both independently and as a member of a team. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. The ability to communicate effectively in Chinese, orally and written, is highly desirable.
A minimum of (1) one to (3) three years of experience working in a higher education environment, preferably in student recruiting, marketing, or other highly interactive promotional field.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as required by the federal government to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). Prior study/work abroad or other living experience overseas is preferred, along with knowledge of a second or third language, preferably Chinese.
Must be able to undertake primarily international travel for extended periods of time. Ability and willingness to work periodic evening and weekend hours.
A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
