The UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking an experienced and self-motivated office support assistant who will be cross-trained in all administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will need to have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, a friendly, positive demeanor with patients and dental office team members, strong administrative organizational skills' and attention to details. Successful applicants will have demonstrated ability to solve common problems and provide immediate solutions, while building relationships with patients, staff, residents, and doctors.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Scheduling dental appointments for head and neck (HNC) patients referred from regional medical centers
Working with the referring sites in relation to all needed patient referral information and medical records
Confirming patient's insurance, Medicaid, or other coverage
Ongoing communication with patients, external and internal clinics, residents, attending doctors and staff
Assisting with administrating a Foundation grant:
to confirm patient eligibility for grant-supported dental care
grant invoice preparation
Maintain patient Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Scan documents into Dentrix Document Center
Adjustments to patient's EHR after JE transfers are complete
Assist the AEGD Residency Program Director as needed with tasks such as:
Monitoring and updating the Residency Outlook and Dentrix calendars
Assist with tracking resident and residency outcomes via excel worksheets
Resident course registration
High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Strong computer skills (especially some working knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) such as axiUm and Dentrix dental software) and the ability to learn new tasks and take on additional responsibilities will be essential.
Experience working in a private Dental Practice
Experience working with Dentrix or similar Dental practice software
Knowledge of Dental office procedures and terminology
Experience working with electronic patient records
Full Time/Part Time
$13.27 - $15.00 per hour
