Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the full time position of Transfer Admissions Specialist. The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a self-motivated, dynamic individual with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to represent the university to prospective transfer students, their families and colleagues in understanding the transfer admissions process and credit evaluation. The position will play a critical role in ensuring students experience a smooth transition during the transfer enrollment process at Binghamton University. This position involves supporting Enrollment Management through identifying, selecting, and enrolling transfer students. Additionally, this position will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Financial Aid and Student Records office, and will work closely with the campus community to update the transfer articulation tables. The position will also require travel to community colleges for admissions and advising in residence events.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Development of a working knowledge of Binghamton University, its programs, policies, goals and history
Proficiency in the use of technology; experience working with a student information system such as Banner and/or an admissions CRM such as Slate
Establish and maintain strong relationships and rapport with counselors and advisors at community colleges, students, parents, alumni and professional organizations
Review applications through a holistic reading process and make recommendations, act as an active member of application reading committees
Represent the campus to prospective transfer students on campus, at community colleges, and at off-campus meetings
Prepare reports and innovative proposals to help understand transfers and further the goals for transfer enrollment
Develop a basic understanding of curricula information (including program of study and general education requirements) for transfer pathways, including an understanding of course-to-course equivalencies
Work closely with Student Records, to build, review and update transfer credit equivalency tables
Work with the campus to help implement the most effective and efficient strategy for automation of articulation of credit and maintain transfer tables in Banner
Serve as a member of campus-wide academic advising teams and committees
Assist with CRM by updating contact information, researching contact data for accuracy, emailing, adding activities, and editing information
Bachelor's degree (or higher)
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive professional work experience
Valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle
Experience working with a Student Information System (e.g. Banner)
Evidence of excellent communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated public speaking ability, analytical thinking, and creative problem solving
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to be flexible and work with interruptions such as phone calls and meeting with students
Ability to work some nights and weekends
Experience working with and serving diverse populations
Master's degree (or higher) in a related field
Two (2) or more years of full-time experience working in higher education in an academic advising, undergraduate admissions, registrar's office or administrative role in an academic department
