Responsible to process prescriptions through the pharmacy system including adjudication of claims to third party insurance plans, for the filling of medication orders timely and accurately, recognize common drug names, and select proper drug, dosage form, strength and quantity, as appropriate for review by the Pharmacist. The MPP technician will deliver medications to patients in the hospital and clinic setting, coordinate payment and communicate issues to the pharmacist and to the Prior Authorization team as needed. Excellent communication skills are required for communicating to patients both on the phone and in person. Additional responsibilities include participation in service line meetings as required, inventory management, and processing copay cards issued by drug company programs for eligible patients.
High school graduate/equivalent required. Technician certification (CPhT) is required. The qualified candidate must be able to perform dosage calculations, have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of hospital personnel, perform basic office environment tasks, have the aptitude to maintain proficiency in all Pharmacy computer systems, automated dispensing software and systems, and all technical equipment required to perform duties, and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the Internet. Additionally, you are expected to satisfactorily maintain/pass required hospital, government, and professional certifications/validations/examinations. High prescription retail/chain volume experience with a working knowledge of third party insurance plans preferred.
