Plant Manager for the UWRF Meat Plant in the Department of Animal and Food Science, College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. This is a full-time, 9-month, Academic Staff appointment. There is ample opportunity to develop summer income through plant operations, industry training courses and pilot plant projects. The UWRF Meat Plant is a Federally inspected plant.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Animal Science or related area
Experience with meat plant operations and equipment including slaughter and fabrication processes
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in the workplace environment and mentor students
Ability to manage financial and manufacturing activities including appropriate record-keeping
Ability to maintain HACCP documentation and meet OSHA guidelines
Ability to conduct appropriate quality assurance testing
Ability to interact constructively with regulatory personnel
Flexible and collegial attitude towards co-workers, students and other stakeholders
The following attributes are highly desirable within potential candidates:
Documented experience with product marketing and business plan development
Master's Degree in an applicable field, or interest and ability to pursue a post-Baccalaureate degree
