The ideal candidate will be a visionary and transformational thought leader, who has demonstrated experience and influence in achieving positive change in an academic setting in the areas of diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, community partnerships, economic development, and educational and employment equity.

Approximately 25,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools, and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.
The CEDO reports to the Superintendent of Schools and works in close collaboration with district executive leaders, stakeholder groups within the district, and with external partners to shape, promote and implement the strategic plan. The CEDO will promote a culture of inclusion and embracing differences in support of the district’s strategic efforts to build a culture of equity and inclusion for all students, families, employees and the community. The CEDO will guide efforts to define, assess, nurture, and cultivate diversity as an institutional and educational resource. The position works to deliver the district’s mission by providing direction and coordinating leadership to promote equity, diversity and inclusion throughout the school system through a cross-disciplinary approach.
Experience in a leadership role developing and monitoring initiatives around diversity, racial equity, inclusion or related work.
Relevant experience in a school district, government, or non-profit organization in an urban setting preferred.
Proven track record of success leading a large complex organization and a broad range of stakeholders to achieve goals.
Experience guiding the analysis of data and data-based inquiry to drive improvement in practice.
Experience coordinating and delivering professional development for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Master’s Degree or higher in Education, Public Policy, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university; or commensurate experience in lieu of a degree.
