Execute the M State Service Commitment and Service Standards to ensure all stakeholders have a positive service experience.
Inform and assist current and prospective students on all aspects of financial aid.
Responsible for awarding of federal and state financial aid.
Utilize the various computer packaging systems for awarding funds as well as prepare, analyze, and evaluate award simulations so that federal, state, and institutional funds are most effectively utilized.
Participate in the development and implementation of college financial aid policies and campus procedures within prescribed guidelines.
Assure the accurate and timeliness of reports to federal, state, agency, and college authorities.
Participate in the development of student aid budgets which accurately reflect the cost of attendance and current economic conditions. This is a prerequisite for awarding student financial aid.
Attendance at appropriate workshops and conferences.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. Must be able to travel to meetings.
Minimum of two year degree in a business, accounting or human services related field.
Able to interpret and understand complicated federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs. This knowledge is applied to the daily work of the office in decision-making and record keeping.
Communication, both oral and written, in individual and group settings via phone or in person, sufficient to motivate students and influence behavior or turn a situation around and work with colleagues in a cooperative and respectful manner.
Human relations/customer service sufficient to actively listen to and understand student needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.
Work effectively with students from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds and with varied needs.
Relate to individuals and groups of students through the use of a variety of communication techniques (i.e., presentations, workshops, face-to-face, etc.), helping skills, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interact with prospective and current students with sensitivity.
Ability to work closely with the public and be able to clearly inform students and parents of the financial aid process.
Ability to complete detailed work with accuracy, facing many deadlines and frequent interruptions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of private information according to procedures, rules, and statutes.
Basic knowledge of tax forms.
Good numerical aptitude for detail and accuracy.
Data Entry performance skills sufficient to accurately enter data into spreadsheets and databases.
Spreadsheets sufficient to maintain data and produce monthly benefits reports.
Computer knowledge and understanding with the ability to remain up-to-date with the many software programs utilized in the administration of financial aid.
Able to handle stressful situations with the highest level of professionalism consistent with excellent customer service.

Bachelor's degree in a business, accounting or human service related field
Experience using the ISRS student record system.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in Financial Aid.

About MINNESOTA STATE COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE - FERGUS FALLS CAMPUS
With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995. The law merged the state's community colleges, technical colleges and state universities into one system. The system is separate from the University of Minnesota.
