Position Title: STEM Academic Advisor (Part-Time)
Department: STEM Starter Academy/Office of Advising
Reports to: Director of Advising/Director of STEM Starter Academy
Advise and counsel first year STEM students to develop academic plans of study, select curriculum and course sequencing according to College and Division policies. Participate in grant-related reporting and in meetings /programs associated with grant and advising activities. Serve as a resource to the STEM Division and its faculty with regard to advising services. This position is located on the Wellesley Hills Campus.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide academic advising for first year STEM students, including STEM Starter Academy Summer Program students;
Maintain knowledge of the STEM Division Associate Degree and Certificate programs, curricula and course sequencing;
Maintain knowledge and currency with MassBay policies and procedures for admissions, enrollment, and completion of a program of study;
Evaluate and interpret placement test scores and transfer credit;
Assist STEM students with course selection, course sequencing and academic pathways;
Understand transfer opportunities and requirements for STEM students;
Assist students with adding and/or withdrawing from courses;
Assist students in obtaining developmental/tutorial assistance;
Utilize PeopleSoft programs;
Advise Director of Advising and STEM Starter Academy regarding student/program issues.
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Salary: $30.00 per hour, part-time position (not to exceed 18 hours weekly)
Classification: MCCC Professional Staff
Funding: This is a grant-funded position beginning August 5th, 2019. This is an annual grant which ends September 21, 2020 and is subject to renewal each year.
