The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) and Orphan Disease Center (ODC) are entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases. Our R&D organization has a translational infrastructure that includes: technology discovery, specialized immunology assays operating under GLP, a Vector Core/Manufacturing unit that conducts GMP comparable work, and a large non-clinical program for animal testing under GLP including large animal and rodent vivaria.
We are currently looking to fill the role of Compliance Veterinarian.
Under the Supervision of the Director of the Animal Models Core, the Compliance Veterinarian has responsibility for advising and assisting researchers within the Gene Therapy Program (GTP) with IACUC protocol procedure design, approval, and implementation including amendments and de novo protocols, to evaluate gene therapies while incorporating the 3 Rs of research (refine, reduce, replace); ensuring that personnel are appropriately trained, by assisting with training in specialized techniques, and maintaining a training database; developing, implementing, and running a post-approval monitoring program across small and large animal programs; reviewing and revising GTP SOPs to be in accordance with approved IACUC procedures and University policies; and finally ensuring that GTP is in compliance with regulations governing humane and ethical treatment and use of laboratory animals. CPIA and DVM required, DACLAM or board-eligible preferred, licensure to practice veterinary medicine in at least one US state is preferred.
