PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSISTANT: Library Services; Lawrence Campus; Monday - Thursday, 5PM-8PM (12 hours per week); Non-Unit Position
Anticipated Start Date: July 2019
RESPONSIBILITIES: The library seeks a Library Assistant to provide assistance to NECC students, faculty, and staff with their information needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience working in an active academic library.
Duties for this position include:
Aid students and other patrons with circulation services;
Answer general questions related to information needs utilizing library resources (catalog, databases, web sources, etc.);
Provide in-person, online, phone and email assistance to students, staff, and faculty;
Shelving and collection maintenance;
Staffing the library when the librarian on duty is teaching or otherwise unavailable;
Staffing the computer lab when needed, and answering basic technology questions (Office, Blackboard, print/copy/scan, etc.);
Use independent judgment and work effectively as part of a team or individually;
Other duties as assigned.
Library public services experience;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Positive attitude and high comfort level providing library services to multicultural patrons;
Ability to work independently or with limited supervision;
Experience with an automated library system;
Experience working with an academic LMS, such as Blackboard;
Background in libraries or coursework in an information science program is strongly desired;
