Department: STUDENT HEALTH & COUNSELING SERVICES - 068070 Department Description: Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 170 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), IACS (International Association for Counseling Services), and APA (American Psychological Association). SHCS mental health staff are an educationally diverse group of licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, masters-level therapists, and predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees, dedicated to providing student-centered mental health services, advocacy, outreach, and consultation to promote psychological well-being and academic success. Counseling services are offered at no cost to registered students.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Counseling Services (CS) at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), direct the provision of psychological services, including Mental Health Crisis Consultation Service, Initial Consultation, individual, and group counseling; oversee program planning and resource allocation for psychological services; coordinate the activities of the CS' Quality Assurance program and CS' Clinical Operations Committee. Provide consultation to CS staff to coordinate campus mental health services. Provide crisis intervention, brief counseling, and group counseling.
Physical Demands: -Works at computer terminal for extended periods of time.
-Daily move throughout a 3-story building.
Work Environment: -Work evenings and some weekends.
-Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services.
-Position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist of infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
-Position requires signing a statement acknowledging requirement to report child abuse (CANRA) and requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders.

Minimum Qualifications: -Possess a Doctoral degree in Psychology.
-Licensed as a Psychologist. Psychologists governed by California Board of Psychology are required to possess valid license. Psychologist applicants possessing a valid license in another state must obtain California licensure within 180 days after submitting an application to become licensed in California or from date of commencement of residency in California, whichever comes first.
-Experience with mental health clinic/counseling center administration.
-Experience coordinating aspects of mental health services.
-Five or more years of experience as a clinician or administrator in a mental health clinic or university counseling center.
-Demonstrated skills to mentor, lead and supervise professional and clinical staff.
-Demonstrated understanding of large clinical service delivery systems.
-Experience and interest in working with individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural backgrounds.
-Experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual psychotherapy/counseling.
