Erie Family Health Centers is looking for a strategic and analytical development professional with exceptional skills and experience in complex grant writing and staff management to join our Leadership Team as the Director of Government Grants and Foundation Relations. This role offers a tremendous opportunity to support our nationally recognized, high quality primary care model and positively impact thousands of families across the Chicagoland area in the coming years. The successful candidate will share our organizational belief that healthcare is a human right and will value the dignity of all people.
Oversee a team of four and provide strategic and operational leadership for fundraising activities related to government and foundation grants totaling more than $18 million annually
Collaborate with Program and Finance staff on grants development, contracts and management, and with the Executive Leadership Team members on large grants tied to Erie’s strategic priorities
Develop and implement an integrated fundraising strategy and plan designed to maximize government and private institutional support for Erie, focused around organizational priorities
Actively participate in the organizational budgeting process by preparing iterative revenue projections for grants and institutional contributions for inclusion in the annual budget plan
Secure meetings and coordinate site visits with donors and prospects to build relationships and provide updates on Erie Family Health Centers
Collaborate with the VP, Strategy and Business Development on stewardship of hospital partnerships and develop related community benefit grant proposals and reports
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is a plus
Advanced knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies, with a special focus on grant-writing for government funders, and skills and affinity for relationship-building, grant-writing and stewardship for foundation funders.
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience with grant writing, proposal production, grants management and reporting, including significant experience with major federal government grants and additional experience with state or local grants. Additional experience with foundation fundraising is a plus.
Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising staff
Experience working in complex nonprofit settings, with a preference for healthcare or social services.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Experience working with Raiser’s Edge database is a plus
