STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Director - Student and Family Engagement (SFE) provides vision, leadership, and administrative direction to the College's co-curricular events and programs across all four of Bristol's locations. The Assistant Director also assists and develops the College's student leadership programs, including the oversight of the Student Ambassador Program, student elections, student representation on various college committees, and advisement of the Student Senate and Student Newspaper. The Assistant Director also collects, analyzes, and interprets student learning outcome data from the department's engagement efforts for continuous improvement. Finally, the Assistant Director works collaboratively across the College to ensure shared governance, transparency, and assessment practices, while helping to move the College towards comprehensive, innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the Bristol community.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of SFE.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises department and area staff as assigned by the Director of SFE.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-Curricular Student Events and Programs
Plan, organize, execute, and assess the college's co-curricular events and programs across all College locations.
Collaborate with staff, students, and faculty to develop a calendar of events that meets students' diverse needs and interests.
Coordinate all marketing efforts with the College's Marketing and Communications department; identify key performance indicators to continuously improve strategies and tactics.
Develop an ongoing assessment plan to gain deeper understanding on satisfaction and learning outcomes; connect key data points to student information systems to identify how student engagement affects student persistence and graduation rates; provide ongoing data reports and analysis to key College leadership groups.
Student Leadership Development
Develop, implement, and evaluate co-curricular engagement and student leadership learning outcomes.
Create strong professional, supportive relationships with student leaders to emphasize the value of education, as well as the development of self-efficacy and self-confidence.
Coordinate key educational workshops and programs with divisional deans and academic program chairs for increased student participation.
Implement tactics that support key College leadership initiatives, such as Student Ambassadors, Student Senate, and other key student organizations.
Supervise assigned SFE department staff and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and identify potential opportunities for growth; work closely with Human Resources to create talent development plans and implement appropriate performance improvement plans.
Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff, while fostering a commitment to both service excellence and student learning and development.
Collaborate with other Student Services and Enrollment Management (SSEM) personnel and academic faculty in all student retention efforts.
Provide professional development and training to the SFE department and other SSEM units as needed.
Participate in a variety of College-wide activities to communicate information on all retention efforts; lead and participate in college committees as assigned.
Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Development, Education, or other related field
Minimum of three years of professional higher education experience in Student Activities, Orientation, Student Centers, or related area of work.
Demonstrated knowledge in program development, college student development, or comparable experience in management and administration of higher education programs.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
A commitment to embracing diversity, including the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and local community agencies.
Demonstrated experience with online student engagement strategies, utilizing various technology and digital communication platforms.
Experience working with community college students.
Demonstrated success with recruiting and retaining college students through various programs, events, and services.
Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.
SALARY: Hiring salary $60,000 - $65,000, commensurate with education and experience.
