As an advisor in OADI, you will play a critical role in supporting our students and join a dynamic team of colleagues who are all committed to the core values of equity, access, and inclusion.
In this position, you will:
Have an immediate and direct impact on our undergraduate students who come from backgrounds that historically have not been represented in higher education.
Provide academic, personal, and financial advising to students utilizing the services offered by the Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives, primarily supporting students enrolled in the Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program and Higher Education Opportunity Program (EOP/HEOP) and students enrolled in OADI's Pre-Professional Program (P3).
Assist with recruitment and provide information about EOP/HEOP guidelines and institutional policies and procedures to prospective students, parents, the Cornell community, and guidance counselors.
Advise enrolled students and prospective applicants and families on matters pertaining to financial aid.
Work collaboratively and assist the College Advisors, EOP/HEOP leadership with monitoring program students' academic progress and follow up on academic referral procedures.
Assist the manager of the Pre-Professional Program with completing end-of-year reporting and reporting needs throughout the year.
Developing direct linkages and connections for STEM (medical, engineering, veterinary) and/or business/law partners across campus and regionally.
Provide programming and programmatic support for all OADI students and initiatives.
Provide academic, personal, and financial counseling for "walk-in" OADI eligible students. Participate in university committee work.

Additionally, you will have:
A Bachelor's Degree.
One to two years of experience in counseling in an educational or related field. Experience in advising underrepresented students in the STEM or licensed professional fields of study is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
The ability to interact with a diverse population.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with computer applications including database management, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
Either experience in programming and conducting workshops and/or a desire to grow and engage in this work.
Ability to speak multiple languages also preferred.
