You will serve as an Occupational Health Nurse in the Occupational Health Department of NAVHOSP BEAUFORT.
This announcement uses the OPM Federal Wide direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
You will serve as a clinic manager, responsible for the direction, coordination, training and administration of the occupational health clinic military and civilian employees and the day to day activities of the clinic.
You will provide work and non-work related injuries and illnesses, job related incidences, accidents and referrals reports involving employees and other conditions impacting an employees medical status.
You will initiate laboratory, x-ray or other tests based on history indicating past or present exposures, industrial hygiene and safety data, and other information from the employee relating to work practices of potentially hazardous exposures.
You will make recommendations to the physician for the alleviation of employee?s problems dealing with personal care, activities of daily living, and other health related needs.

Applicants must have successfully completed a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools).
Have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate you possess a diploma, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program and have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector maintaining programs to enhance quality of care, track and prevent disease, potential exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogen exposure and any other hazard assigned to OH clinic; provide assessment for work and non-work related injuries and illnesses for consultation and referrals; perform and/or plan screen testing produced by long term chronic exposure to toxic chemicals or harmful physical agents to identify medical changes before disease occurs; provide health maintenance/wellness through coordination in preventive health education programs and counseling of individuals/groups with identified needs and interests.
Certification by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN) as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is desired, but not required.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
