Student Affairs Resource Case Manager The Dean of Students office at Whittier College seeks a Student Affairs Resource Case Manager. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Life the Student Life Resource Care Manager works with the Poet Early Alert Program (PEAP) team to help students overcome obstacles that stand in the way of personal and academic success at Whittier College the Student Life Resource Case Manager will facilitate communication among departments, ensuring that all resources of the College are available to students in crisis. Specific responsibilities include providing oversight for cases assigned, maintaining electronic records of meetings and activities, coordinating responses, and preparing reports. The Case Manager will serve as a member of the Associate Dean of Students leadership team.
The Student Life Resource Care Manager provides strategic planning and implementation of programs and services and is responsible for delivering services to students that promote their academic and personal development. These services include providing administrative direction and intervention for crisis and non-crisis situations, training student leaders and staff, overseeing educational efforts related to the PEAP process, serving as a co-chair of the Poet Early Alert team (PEAP) and working with staff and faculty to resolve student concerns.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week Exempt Status: Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Location/Department: Whittier College (Main Campus)/Dean of Students
Serve as a primary resource for managing student issues related to students in distress, at-risk students and students in crisis. Collect, organize and evaluate facts associated with student cases, develop intervention plans, and communicate with impacted student(s), campus partners, and others as allowed byFERPA.
Maintain a comprehensive overview of students in PEAP case manager's portfolio. Manage record keeping through electronic database system to make sure that all correspondence and action items are accurately documented.
Participate as a co-chair for the PEAP Team meetings, referring students and presenting cases as appropriate to ensure the continuity of care with campus offices.
Build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with various College departments and appropriate community entities to assist students in taking advantage of available resources while determining the best options available in a given situation. Work with College resources to make referrals to community resources when appropriate.
Facilitate information sharing, as permitted byFERPA, with identified entities including but not limited to campus departments, faculty, staff, parents, families and designated emergency contacts (as appropriate) regardingPEAPcases and serious mental health emergencies, as well as student issues or campus emergencies.
Represent the Student Life Dean's Office chairing various committees and serving on committees and at various programs, meetings, or activities and other duties as assigned while serving as a professional staff member.
Serve as a representative of the Student Life Dean's Office when students are hospitalized by visiting students and facilitating post-hospitalization communication, follow up and planning.
Responsible for the development and delivery of educational outreach programs for the campus community.
Assists with the management of the Maxient platform.
RepresentWhittier Collegewithin appropriate professional associations.
Maintains connections with student organizations by attending events, assisting with programs, and representing the Dean of Students staff.
Serve as an effective liaison between the offices in the Division of Student Life, Campus Safety, Information Technology, Admissions, Financial Aid, Business Office, Academic Affairs, and other departments of the College.
Serve as a member of the Wellness Coalition.
Represent the Associate Dean of Student Life at events and meetings and respond to other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions of the Job: 1. Represent the College as appropriate in its relationship with the community, government agencies, professional organizations, and other groups. 2. Attend division wide meetings.
Position Specifications and Requirements: Previous Experience:
Minimum of 2 years related experience and progressively increasingly responsibility associated with higher education case management. Preferred experience includes knowledge of government regulations pertaining to students, includingFERPA,HIPPA, Title IX, Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act; case management and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns and needs of diverse student populations.
Minimum 3 years of crisis management, student, training and programming experience in progressively responsible positions.
Demonstrated knowledge in the areas associated with case management, organization, planning, decision making, problem solving, strategic thinking and effective use of resources. Must have experience responding to crisis situations.
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries and case notes incorporating complex information.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and other Database systems. Experience with Maxient a plus.
Knowledge and Education: Typically a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education or related field or equivalent experience. Employee will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes and emerging best-practices.
