Working under the supervision of the Associate Director for Student Account Services, the Assistant Director for Student Account Services provides the highest level of customer service (via in person, phone and electronic communications) and answers student and parent inquiries regarding their financial status. The Assistant Director advises and counsels all types of current and prospective Northeastern students and families regarding their bill, financial aid, payment and financing options. The Assistant Director ensures the highest level of compliance with federal, state and institutional policies while maintaining students' account records with accuracy.
The Assistant Director for Student Accounts Services is responsible for the management of the student refund process, and ensures that all Title IV refunds are processed in a timely manner. The Assistant Director works with the Associate Director to develop and deliver training to the student accounts representatives and other departmental and university staff. The Assistant Director researches and resolves escalated issues at the request of the student account representatives and the Enrollment Management Contact Center. The Assistant Director manages the senior clearance process during three degree conferral periods annually. The Assistant Director is responsible for processing wire transfer payments to the university, scheduling coverage for the front desk, and manages the MBTA pass purchasing program. The Assistant Director serves as the primary Student Accounts liaison to the Veteran Services area within Student Financial Services, and assists with benefit processing and reconciliation.
The Assistant Director works to support the overall goals and mission of Student Financial Services and assists with ad hoc projects and requests of the SFS leadership. The Assistant Director represents the university and presents for audiences ranging from 25-1500 people at public events including but not limited to open houses, admitted student days, new student orientation.
A minimum of 4-6 years in a Student Accounts/Bursar/Business Office preferred. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate with various constituents ie. Faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, company officials and government personnel. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with Banner preferred. Bachelor's degree required. Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent oral/written communications and analytical skills and effective prioritization skills. Creative thinking skills and solutions-oriented
