Postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the lab of Dr. Isaac Edery at Rutgers University to study molecular mechanisms and neural circuits governing the interactions between wake-promoting, sleep-promoting, circadian rhythms, thermal adaptation and metabolic pathways. To achieve these goals we use a range of experimental paradigms including natural populations of Drosophila acclimated to different environments.
Experience with Drosophila is a major plus, but preference will also be given to candidates having high expertise with RNA, protein, tissue culture, molecular biology and imaging. New areas of investigation have recently been developed, and a wide range of projects can be tailored to suit individual interests.
As an example of current research directions in the Edery Lab, we recently identified a novel anti-siesta gene, called DAYWAKE, that is regulated in an unprecedented manner by trans-splicing from a thermosensitive intron (Yong and Edery, Current Biology, 2019).
The Edery lab has an excellent record of postdoctoral fellows who have advanced to academic faculty positions. The laboratory’s research is supported by a recent NIH R01 Grant (5 years) and NIH R21 Grant (2 years) awarded to the PI.
Interested candidates must apply online. In addition, interested candidates may send their CV, cover letter and the contact information for three references to Isaac Edery (email@example.com).
The Edery lab is housed in a multi-disciplinary institute surrounded by other state-of-the-art science buildings on the Rutgers University New Brunswick/ Piscataway Campus. Situated 50 min to both New York City and New Jersey beaches. An excellent, comprehensive benefits package is offered. Salary is commensurate with experience.
