The Fund Development Director in collaboration with the Board of Directors Fund Development Committee and the Chief Advancement Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for Wesley Willows Corporation. The Director of Fund Development is responsible for working towards achieving ongoing fund raising goals and engage supporters. This includes building key relationships and contracts within and outside of Wesley Willows to ensure meeting strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Studies the overall purpose and plans for the organization and prioritizes goals according to 1-year, 5-year, and long range objectives. Sets monetary goals and budgets accordingly.
Identifies prospects for financial support, including foundations, corporations, and individuals, and determines best means of contacting each group.
Plans and implements special events campaigns, a donor cultivation program, an annual direct mail campaign in order to convey the purposes of the organization clearly and effectively.
Writes grant proposals for government and foundation funds.
Develops fundraising literature suitable for general public and previous small gift donors.
Targets prospects as major donors and develops literature explaining the uses and benefits of charitable giving as part of estate planning.
Meets with and develops long-term relationships with individuals to offer personalized strategies for giving.
Engages volunteers for special fund development projects using established volunteer management practices
Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
Assigns duties and reviews all activities of the fundraising office.
Develops policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices
Supervises the actual fundraising process to maintain careful records of receipts and account for disbursement of all funds.
Participates on Executive Management Team by contributing opinions, research, problem-solving, insight and ideas.
A bachelor’s degree with major in fundraising, finance, accounting, marketing & sales or similar concentration.
Minimum of five years in fundraising with a non-profit organization.
Good knowledge of federal and state tax planning techniques favoring charitable giving.
Prefer working knowledge of Razor’s Edge database.
Excellent written and oral language and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a planning team.
Valid driver’s license to travel for presentations to foundations or potentially large donors.
