The Office of Alumni Engagement (AE) facilitates lifelong relations with and among friends, parents, faculty, staff and students. Charged with both building community and fostering a culture of engagement, the AE office is committed to intentional and focused engagement to achieve shared goals. The Alumni Engagement Officer (Associate Director) of AE oversees all aspects of alumni engagement for six regional alumni networks, following industry best practices, to ensure that Pratt Institute properly engages its alumni in support of its initiatives and development efforts. This position reports into the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement. Work is performed independently and requires the employee to be able to schedule, supervise and set priorities and performance based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. As we prepare for a capital campaign, the work of the Office of Alumni Engagement ultimately fuels a positive relationship with the Institute that results in stronger connections and increased philanthropy.
Articulate and implement strategies that identify, recruit, train, steward, manage and evaluate alumni volunteers.
Develop and manage network leadership establishing annual plans, goals and budgets. Empower network leaders to grow their networks through peertopeer cultivation, engagement and stewardship.
Engage Pratt alumni through various events and programs established in collaboration with network leadership, with a focus on young alumni and student engagement.
Collaborate with the development team to identify alumni for further cultivation, aligning stewardship and outreach strategies.
Collaborate with colleagues in Alumni Engagement to implement strategies that will engage young alumni and students in all of our events and programs.
Forge strong and collaborative relationships with campus partners to maximize alumni and student engagement opportunities and outreach. Maintain strong communication links to ensure a coordinated approach to alumni and students to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Strengthen the Pratt Fund and major gift pipeline by referring prospects to development colleagues as they emerge.
Produce contact reports, and deliver timely and effective followup to alumni leaders and prospects.
Work with Executive Director of Alumni Relations to develop an annual professional development plan that will ensure awareness of trends, best practices, new information, etc., related to development, student and young alumni engagement.
This position may require periodic evening and weekend work.
Uphold departmental and institutional policies regarding confidential information.
Ability to travel as needed (less than 25% estimated).
Experience: A minimum of four years of experience in alumni relations, institutional advancement, volunteer management, student and young alumni programming, special events or related transferable experience required.
Must have solid understanding of engagement and fundraising strategies especially as it relates to alumni relations.
Demonstrated experience conducting individual visits for volunteer recruitment, training and stewardship.
Demonstrated success developing and managing regional networks, volunteers and leadership.
Experience developing and executing innovative engagement strategies and events that optimize the engagement value and improve local and regional engagement with alumni and students.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser's Edge or similar relational database required.
Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills essential.
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
Strong independent judgment and decisionmaking skills.
Ability to correspond professionally with senior staff and highlevel alumni
Understanding of the mission of Pratt Institute and the importance of the relationship between the Institute and its students and alumni.
