The Coordinator for Fraternity andSorority Life will provide oversight and direction to the recognized Greekorganizations on campus and affiliated students, but will work primarily withthe chapters under the Interfraternity Council (IFC).This position will help implement bestpractices, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall growth anddevelopment of this council, and implement community wide leadershipprograms.The individual in this rolewill share responsibilities with the Assistant Director for Fraternity andSorority Life for the day-to-day operations needed to support the FSLcommunity.
Council Advisement (IFC)
Actively advise the executive officersof the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and hold regular one-on-one meetings withcouncil leadership; attend weekly executive council and general assemblymeetings for the council and oversee any council sponsored programs and events;serve as the primary advisor and point of contact for all coordinatedrecruitment/intake efforts for the governing council; develop and facilitateeducational workshops for council officers, chapter presidents, general membersand chapter advisors addressing relevant student and community issues; establishbest practices for increasing student success indicators; aid in themanagement, compilation, and distribution of statistical information andreports; and help appropriately address and resolve conduct and risk managementincidents.
Implement community wide programs tohelp foster a sense of community among all Greek organizations; partner withthe Office of Development & Alumni Affairs to initiate fundraising andalumni engagement opportunities for IFC and their member organizations; cultivateand maintain positive working relationships with affiliated students, chapterand alumni advisers, regional leadership, corporation board officers, housedirectors, international officers and headquarters, and community officials;and collaborate with the Assistant Director and Graduate Assistant forFraternity and Sorority Life to implement an accessibility initiative forcouncil and community wide programs.
Fraternity & Sorority LifeAdministrative Duties
Develop, implement, and enforce allUniversity policies, including Fraternity and Sorority Life requirements aroundmembership, reporting, academic excellence, etc.; assist with the developmentof all Fraternity and Sorority Life sponsored programs that impact the entireFraternity and Sorority Life Community (i.e. Greek Show, Advisor Trainings, NewMember 101 Trainings, FSL Town Hall Meetings, etc.); partner with theCoordinator for Multicultural Affairs to develop the curriculum and facilitatethe Fraternity and Sorority Life Emerging Leaders Institute and the Fraternityand Sorority Life Executive Leaders' Summit for council and chapter officers; helpdevelop short-term, long-term goals and objectives related to Fraternity andSorority Life; and hire, select, and supervise the Fraternity and Sorority LifeGraduate Assistant and Graduate Summer Intern(s).
This position requires evening andweekend hours. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Knowledgeof issues, trends, applicable standards, policies and best practices relevantto fraternities and sororities particularly related to the North AmericanInterfraternity Conference (NIC) and general risk management/harm reduction
Excellentwritten, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstratedskills in advising, organizational development, motivating students andconflict resolution
Provenability to facilitate educational programs and/or workshops focused on issuesrelevant to fraternities and sororities
Ability totake initiative and work independently in setting priorities to ensure thatresponsibilities are carried out in an accurate and timely fashion
Abilityand willingness to function as a member of a team
