LOCATION: Susquehanna Imaging/Autism Development Medicine Institute

Provides initial contact and assessment for patients of Geisinger’s Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI). Functions as a member of the ADMI clinical team providing input regarding plan of care. Assesses patient needs and abilities and participates in the development of plans for coordination of care to facilitate improved patient functioning/symptom resolution. Provides resources and information/education about plan of care to the patient and family. Provides individual, family, couples and groups psychotherapy as deemed clinically appropriate. Participates with the Division of Psychiatry Team and all other team members for program planning as required.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING-Knowledge of theories and methodologies for psychological counseling; ability to conduct a planned counseling interaction and design a counseling process to facilitate clients' progress toward meeting counseling goals and objectives.
PSYCHOTHERAPY-Knowledge of psychotherapeutic models, theories and methodologies; ability to implement psychotherapeutic programs based on the principles and procedures of mental health and related disciplines to increase an individual's sense of well-being.
HEALTH CARE POLICY AND ETHICS COMPLIANCE-Knowledge of health care policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS-Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communications skills.
Demonstrates excellent organizational and excellent written and oral communication skills.
TEAM PLAYER-Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
Demonstrates knowledge of computer skills including Word and Excel.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or other related discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of three years related experience required.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure required.
Completion of 40 contact hour CEUs related to training about developmental disabilities within 12 months of date of hire.
Work performed in clinical environment-Universal Precautions
May be required to work multiple shifts and weekends
