The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is seeking a Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer. Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer will set the strategic direction and lead the teams responsible for NAEYC's primary revenue lines which include Early Learning Program Accreditation, Global Engagement, Member Experience and Market Solutions and Publishing and Professional Learning.

The successful candidate must possess a demonstrated track record of creative and innovative success along with proven accountability for market based competitive business line leadership and effective complex operational implementation. It is essential that the individual is a strong and effective leader and manager of people who knows and understands how to motivate individuals and teams for collaborative success. The Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing and ensuring alignment with NAEYC's strategic priorities and delivering sustainable return on mission.
In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a systems thinker'bringing multiple business lines together to create a multifaceted and dynamic integrated operation that will result in positioning NAEYC as a national and international resource for effective early childhood market solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strategic understanding of the early childhood education field and strong relationships with partners and potential partners across the country.
Alignment of Revenue Lines and Market Positioning
Lead the vision for and expansion of NAEYC's core business lines with a strong understanding for how each contributes to the field of early childhood education and specifically delivers value to NAEYC's members and customers.
Leverage knowledge of the early childhood education field and federal, state and international systems to expand NAEYC's footprint across business lines and to ensure that offerings are market based and provide differentiated value.
In concert with the CEO and team members, establish inspirational and achievable benchmarks to measure progress in each of the business lines by conducting ongoing data analysis to understand market opportunities and trends for major NAEYC market solutions.
Represent NAEYC through influential partnerships and business relationships.
Fiscal and Operational Planning and Execution
Provide strategic oversight to the development and implementation of annual operating budgets for each business line ensuring sustainability.
Serve as a strategic partner to Chief Operating and Financial Officer to ensure priorities are established with a lens toward effective resource management, revenue generation, operational efficiencies and strategic alignment across teams.
Develop strategic partnerships with the Managing Director, Policy and Profession to align NAEYC practices across policy, professional recognition and higher education.
Ensure mission-focused, cost-effective day-to-day operations through staff supervision, fiscal management, planning and execution.
Enhance the performance and positioning of the NAEYC brand across markets and external constituents.
Working within NAEYC's strategic direction, prioritize initiatives, ensure effective and integrated operational approaches and align team talents and skills with an agreed upon approach.
Serve as a leader of and partner for ensuring NAEYC's culture and values are relentlessly advanced focusing on shared leadership, innovation, accountability, inclusion and data-informed decision making.
Build and invigorate a high performing inclusive team that is deeply knowledgeable and dedicated to collaborative success.
Drive organizational alignment across business lines.
Advanced degree required. Preferably in business administration, non-profit management or educational leadership.
10+ years of management experience
Experience in early childhood education large system operations and leadership.
Demonstrated experience in successfully managing market and data driven complex enterprises.
Previous related national and international experience preferred.
Strong mentoring and coaching experience to teams with diverse levels of experience.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including an ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
Evidenced business acumen and financial savvy, including excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Strong analytical skills utilized to drive continuous quality improvement in operations and maintain proven track record of success in facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
Entrepreneurial team player that can multitask.
Collaborative and proactive team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical market solution initiatives.
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with staff, NAEYC's National Governing Board and external partners and constituents.
Occasional travel required.
