POSITION: Full-time, 12-month position based on funding and performance beginning July 22, 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
JOB SUMMARY: The position is responsible for promoting an atmosphere of compliance. Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Builds knowledge of the campus and complies with a range of reporting and record keeping responsibilities. Analyzes data and policies using standard procedures. Receives some guidance and direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Athletic Director in areas of intercollegiate athletics administration including; monitor and ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference and University rules, regulations, and policies that govern intercollegiate athletics, its programs and personnel, and representatives of athletics. Evaluate continuing and prospective student-athlete records to determine eligibility status for practice and competition. Track athletically related activity sheets, maintain rosters and squad lists, and research interpretations, waivers, appeals and reports. Advise and help train coaches on regulations, financial aid, eligibility, etc, Monitor procedures for student-athlete recruiting, communicate with coaches and athletic personnel regarding eligibility status of student-athletes. Conduct compliance education programing for staff and campus partners in compliance, generate documents related to eligibility certification as well as other Conference and NCAA reports; Knowledge of computer applications relative to athletics administration such as PeopleSoft, APLUS, UofMN Reports and NCAA Applications such as RSRO, CAi, LSDBi, Eligibility Center, NLI Portal, Transfer Portal, etc. Strong administration, interpersonal, organizational and oral and written communication skills are an asset. Attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of the campus vision is important. The individual may also serve as a sport administrator and perform competition management duties for assigned sports. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. The individual must have an athletics philosophy that values the educational and personal well-being of student-athletes while emphasizing the university and athletics department mission, vision, core values and culture.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree, two years applicable work experience or a combination of related education and relevant work experience to equal six years; ability to compare, verify, and reconcile data to help department achieve overall objectives; and ability to read, write, and understand English. Final job offer is contingent upon a completed background check, receipt of official college transcripts, and authorization to work in the United States at the University of Minnesota.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: NCAA Compliance experience; knowledge of Peoplesoft administrative software; familiarity with NCAA software applications; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and ability to assume a wide variety of responsibilities.
