Serves as a member of the Division of Student Affairs Senior Leadership team. Supports Division efforts towards the achievement of University Strategic Plan. Provides vision and leadership in the development and administration of a comprehensive student transition and success program that engages the entire campus community using nationally recognized best practices in student orientation, transition, persistence, and retention. Oversees supervision of Maverick Orientation and Transition Programs, Parent and Family programs, Military and Veteran Services, Multicultural Affairs, and Student Publications.
Provide direct supervision, training and evaluation of Maverick Orientation and Transition Programs, Parent and Family programs, Military and Veteran Services, Multicultural Affairs, and Student Publications. Co-lead the Maverick Advantage initiative. Assist the Vice President with Division operations including leadership for reporting departments in the areas of planning, human resources, policy development, facilities and budgets. Develop and implement services, activities and opportunities that complete the student experience and enhance student's adjustment to and participation in University life with the targeted outcome of increasing student persistence, retention and graduation rates. Responsible for management of unit budgets and implementation of assessment plans. Assist students in various identified needs to support student success and retention among a diverse student body including undergraduate and graduate students and a rich mix of residential, commuter, and online students. Foster effective collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic departments, staff, senior administrators, parents, and students to provide a seamless holistic learning environment that blends the classroom and out-of-classroom experience. Lead special projects for the VPSA and serve on University and Division committees. Serve as a liaison for Student Affairs to departmental units and community agencies, working collaboratively. Attend meetings and events on behalf of the VPSA when needed. Serve as a member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for campus emergency preparedness. Ensure compliance with UT System and UT Arlington policies, state and federal laws and regulations including assistance with campus-wide crisis/emergency response and provides support to students and families in emergency situations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Administration of Higher Education, or related field and six (6) years of demonstrated supervision and management of personnel, departments, and budgets or the equivalent experience.
Doctoral degree in field related to Student Personnel or Administration of Higher Education. Strong oral and written communication skills. Broad background in higher education strategic planning, assessment and budgeting. 7 years of demonstrated progressive professional experience in Student Affairs field to include management of personnel, departments, and budgets. Strong supervision and computer skills.
