ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR OPERATIONS AND ADVISING , International Students Office (ISO) , to be responsible for MIT-wide SEVIS compliance including reporting with F and J recertification and program update processes, and audit participation. Will lead technical development and support for MIT/sunapsis/SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information) systems for all users including ISO staff, MIT IS&T, MIT administrators, and international students; manage related databases; coordinate with the federal government's SEVIS system; create, update, maintain, and enhance the integration of additional online technical tools for advising related to technical or operational systems relevant to federal reporting mandates for international students, their dependents, and ISO business actions; and serve as a senior international student advising bothF-1 and J-1 students on a full range of regulatory and personal matters, including visa processing, maintenance of status, employment, and academic issues. Will also provide support for an advising cohort including new, continuing, and post-degree students.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in a related field; at least three years of relevant experience; strong IT skills including experience with the Macintosh operating system, MS Office, sunapsis, project management tools, Java, SQL, HTML, XML, data reporting and analysis, student information systems, and project management technology; flexible approach to the work ability to work under deadline pressure; attention to detail; strong interpersonal and communication skills; experiencing advising international students; and knowledge of F and J nonimmigrant visa regulations.
