1. Sets editorial content strategy for the unit's online presence. Establishes, promulgates, and administers policies and guidelines for web content to departmental web administrators through individual consultation and regular operational meetings. Provides additional informal guidance as needed. 2. Oversees web content professionals and support staff, and creates a cohesive team environment. 3. Identifies, engages and manages the outside vendors who perform web design, development, and maintenance. 4. Develops, oversees, and manages new media communications, including electronic newsletters, institutional blogs, social media outlets, mobile-formatted websites, mobile and tablet apps, and other initiatives. 5. Works with internal groups to produce e-newsletters, micro-sites, and other targeted communications vehicles. Generates new ideas for project design and scope. Evaluates and recommends appropriate distribution technologies. 6. In conjunction with internal IT and Communications teams, oversees the strategic reengineering of web assets in order to develop consistent CMS platforms and administrative update procedures for the institution. 7. Interacts with the communications leadership team, IT staff, and others to assess and evaluate new media and technology. Advises and serves as a resource to other departments within the unit on optimal use of new media. 8. Creates and implements policies for use of new communications technologies. 9. Works closely and collaboratively with members of the Communications team and other unit administrators to ensure seamless integration of the School or department's online presence and its print publications, advertising campaigns, and other media. 10. Works with administrative teams at school or department, and outside vendors to develop innovative, interactive online content. Maintains an institution-wide perspective on all web content to ensure excellence, effectiveness, and consistency. 11. Identifies areas for editorial content and graphic content improvement. Initiates projects and create teams to establish and encourage use of standardized templates. 12. Works with the communications leadership and outside consultants to develop and implement innovative online marketing strategies and programs, including advertising, 'viral marketing,' etc. 13. Ensures that all new media materials adhere to school or department's standards in graphic design and typography. 14. Participates in school-wide/department-wide web governance and policy-making process with senior administrators. 15. Special projects and other related duties as required.
