Description of Responsibilities: The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all operation of the Equipment Room for Athletics, including maintenance, inventory, and purchase of athletic equipment and uniforms and supervision of Equipment Room staff.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Oversee all aspects of equipment room operations, including laundry (such as daily practice gear, uniforms, and pinnies; AT Room towels; home event towels/table drapes), inventory and equipment issue for Oswego Athletics (athletes and staff).
Train and supervise all student workers employed in the equipment room.
Maintain and update all equipment room policies and procedures.
Coordinate team purchasing requests for Athletics, serve as Department contact for equipment orders, delivery, and distribution.
Adhere to all financial and purchasing policies and procedures implemented by the athletic department and SUNY Oswego.
Provide equipment room services and open hours Monday – Friday during academic year. Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
Attend all meetings held by Department of Athletics related to day-to-day operations and upon request.
Establish and maintain a computerized inventory of athletic apparel and equipment.
Attend to facility safety and security issues.
Communicate with the Assistant Athletic Director regarding maintenance, cleaning, and appearance of Laker Hall.
Oversee locker rooms in Laker Hall.
In addition, the Equipment Manager will be expected to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues including a commitment to student academic success and to a competitive Division III Athletics program.
Bachelor's Degree at time of application.
Previous athletic equipment management in a University or professional sports environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage projects with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated inventory management and organizational skills.
Experience supervising student workers.
Thorough knowledge of athletic equipment and supplies used in a collegiate athletic department.
Experience with an athletic equipment inventory system.
