This position will encompass numerous aspects of senior environmental technician services with an emphasis on lead, asbestos, mold/IH projects. The position includes performing project monitoring on lead projects as well as project monitoring and inspections on asbestos projects. Candidates will be working with state agencies, private clients, and local governments to provide a wide variety of environmental technician support.
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Industrial Hygienist (DOL) Licensed Asbestos Inspector for our New York City office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review construction plans and applications
Conducting pre-demolition/pre-renovation asbestos surveys in accordance with AHERA, state, and local regulations and guidelines
Travel to various project sites to perform walkthroughs and inspections to ensure compliance with technical documents and industry standards and codes and composing composing a detailed Walkthourgh Report
Communicate project details with project team on a regular basis
Accompanying the Department of Buildings Inspector on site inspection
Complete field inspection and survey reports
Flexibility is necessary. While most work is scheduled for Monday through Friday during our business hours (8 am – 5 pm), some inspections/walkthroughs may require some earlier days or later evenings
Position entails frequent travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City & Long Island
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and good driving record a must
Ability to legally, immediately work in the US
Preference given to local area candidates
Must have a car and clean drivers license

B.S., Environmental Science OR other related scientific discipline
Degree is preferred, but is not mandatory
with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Good oral and written communication skills
NYS Department of Labor (DOL) Licensed Asbestos Inspector - Required
NYS DOL Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician - Required
Preferred Qualifications At least three of the following are preferred:
NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Asbestos Investigator
EPA Lead Inspector and/or Risk Assessor
OSHA 10/30 Hr
