The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a neuroscience Laboratory Research Technician for the Department of Pharmacology. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate will work on an NIH funded project related to addiction and cognition. The goal of the laboratory is to gain a deeper understanding of the neural circuits governing cognitive control of action in the context of addiction. The lab engages in several advanced neuroscience approaches including in vivo calcium imaging, fiber photometry, optogenetics, chemogenetics, and whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology.
**This is a FULL-TIME, CONTRACTUAL position**

Perform animal behavior experiments in combination with optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulation of specified brain circuits.
Perform in vivo calcium imaging of specified brain circuits as animals behave.
Code in MATLAB in order to execute the behavioral experiments in combination with circuit manipulation and monitoring approaches.
Assist in genotyping various genetically-modified mouse lines.
Collect, analyze, and publish data.
Education: Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or biomedical engineering.
Experience: Prior basic laboratory experience is preferred. Experience with computer coding in MATLAB or Python is highly preferred.
Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).
Salary Range: $38,204 - $40,000
