The assistant athletic trainer works under the supervision of the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine and supervises the care of student-athletes competing in the University’s athletic program. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. The assistant athletic trainer will provide day to day practice and event coverage and rehabilitation services to sports as assigned by the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine. Current sport assignment is Men’s Soccer in the Fall and Women’s Lacrosse in the Spring with supervision of Intern Athletic Trainer for Cross Country and Track & Field. Travel is required for assigned teams.
Minimum one year experience working independently as a licensed and certified athletic trainer. Must have advanced degree or training and work experience at a level which equates to an advanced degree in Athletic Training or appropriate area of specialization. Experience in collegiate or professional athletics. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), Virginia Athletic Training Licensure or eligible, CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer certified. Familiarity with NCAA governing rules
