•Using institutional knowledge and awareness of constituency perception, designs, develops and implements short and long-term strategic plans, programs, events, and activities. •Lead and enrich the Haas School’s regional alumni program and verified shared interest groups. Includes strategic planning, volunteer management and training, program development, and event execution. •Develop and implement engagement strategies for regional alumni programs and verified shared interest groups, working with volunteers to address the needs of the alumni base and deliver on initiatives in support of the school’s priorities. •Engage with, mobilize resources for, and support regional alumni communities. •Ensure outreach to constituents. •Recruit, develop and guide alumni volunteers to increase the school’s global reach and brand visibility. •Create and collaboratively execute ongoing, on-demand volunteer training, education and communications. •Build and maintain effective working relationships with school and campus colleagues to maximize collaboration and partnerships, particularly as it relates to activities and constituents in regional markets of importance to the school and within interest with which alumni identify. •Includes sourcing and referring alumni for priority projects and fundraising efforts as well as cross-promoting and partnering on events. •Regularly travel to regional markets, including those in the Bay Area, to meet alumni, and volunteers, and support events. •Coordinate events in markets of importance featuring faculty and alumni thought leaders. •Connect traveling faculty, staff and students with alumni leaders. •Design and lead regional events in service to the strategic priorities of the unit and the school, including events featuring faculty. •Identify content providers and industry experts to participate in chapter activities. •Gain knowledge of and share insights into pertinent trends and innovations through market research, and participation in peer networks and associations. •Partner on student-to-alumni initiatives to integrate admitted students, interns and recent graduates into alumni communities and groups. •Creates and updates policies for governance of chapters, including succession planning. •Encourage and promote giving among alumni leaders. •Support volunteer pipeline development to enrich the Berkeley Haas Alumni Council. •Support the execution of school-wide philanthropic and cultural events in support of the school’s strategic plan. •May oversee all aspects of complex external relations programs, projects and events, including coordinating special programs and overseeing production of audio/visual or written and visual materials. •Assemble, design and disseminate all communications on behalf of region alumni communities and groups. Includes ad hoc and email marketing campaigns. •Manage the chapter awards program and public recognition. •Quickly and appropriately identifies, addresses, and mitigates unforeseen and/or rapidly unfolding events that may negatively impact relationships between the campus and various constituencies, keeping senior management appropriately advised and notified. •Resolve highly complex issues utilizing advanced knowledge of University of California Office of the President’s policies, especially in the areas of insurance and banking for communities and groups. •May mentor less experienced staff members. •Analyzes, summarizes, manages, and/or reviews data, reporting findings, interpreting results and/or making recommendations. •Set metrics and goals for regional alumni communities and verified shared interest groups; monitors programs on goals. •Evaluates and assesses results of strategies and efforts on an ongoing basis. •Use data to identify engagement trends and inform collaboration opportunities and strategic plans, including trainings, communications, and events. •Manage annual chapter grant program; assess and request fund allocation utilizing engagement statistics and community growth plans. •Request, collect and assess community and group reports to comply with the campus’ support group policy and standards. •Monitor and measure attendance and participation in community and group organized events. •Record relevant data into the Cal Advancement Data System and proactively share with stakeholders and staff. •Responds to constituent inquiries. •Manage inquiries from constituents, including alumni, students, faculty and staff, on regional engagement and shared interest group activities. •Keep up-to-date calendar of events. •Professional development.•Knowledge of assigned area of responsibility, for example, the campus scientific community. •Knowledge of issues of concern and trends in higher education. •Advanced knowledge of practices and procedures associated with building and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external constituencies, including diverse constituents of historically marginalized constituencies. •Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including skill to produce information that is appropriately presented and effectively received by target constituencies. •Active listening skills, including advanced critical thinking and analytical skills. •Skill to recognize potential areas of constituency concern and address, resolve and/or mitigate problems or issues. •Advanced project management skills, including skills to plan and implement successful events. •Skill to distill and explain complex data and policies, strategically sharing it with constituents. •Demonstrated ability to advise and inform constituents on learned policies and procedures ensuring compliance with campus protocol. •Skill to utilize data to inform decisions, including program development and design. •Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and motivate constituents. •Demonstrated ability to engage and develop diverse constituents. •Demonstrated ability to foster diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
