The leader of the IT Agile Portfolio Management Office is responsible for building a team that supports the Agile portfolio management processes, provides Agile coaching to the business and technology capability teams and leads the alignment of IT strategy to the value delivered through the IT portfolio. This role reports directly to the IT Chief of Staff and helps the Agile delivery teams reach peak productivity by assisting in establishing and collecting metrics, reducing waste, establishing and supporting communities of practices, coordinating teams / value streams, and modeling the use of Agile principles. Our ideal candidate will bring a broad range of lean and agile experiences with specific knowledge and experience in ensuring that the IT strategy is realized through the overall portfolio deliverables.
Direct supervision of a team of portfolio analysts, coordinators and Agile coaches
Establishes and maintains Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Agile (DoR, DoD, Estimation, etc.)
Establish effective Agile portfolio governance approaches, such as assessments, metrics, dashboards and reporting working closely with the IT portfolio manager within the Enterprise Architecture group
Sets the standards around Agile delivery for all teams and the financial management rigor for the capability teams to follow (working closely with IT Business Operations and IT Finance Manager)
Facilitates training on Agile tools; Jira, Confluence, Jira Portfolio, etc.
Understand the business needs, goals, and objectives being met by the capability delivery teams, inclusive of business priority, market-driven factors for that demand, other compliance-based characteristics, budget and schedule constraints, and critical-to-quality requirements
Assures strategic direction of initiatives/capability teams is aligned with overall IT portfolio commitments and priorities (as per the IT strategy)
Aggressively helps the teams eliminate all wasteful activities and artifacts from its process. Avoids introducing documents, meetings, approvals, and so on unless absolutely necessary. Helps teams look for things that they are doing that might not be adding value
Encourage the formation of communities of practice and then support them after they begin. Not only do communities of practice help Scrum spread through the organization, they also help spread any good idea from one team to another
Manages demand through facilitating objective prioritization of work based on value-for-money, time sensitivity and risk
Identifies and eliminates obstacles for delivery teams, including wider organizational issues that are barriers to incremental delivery
Produces and maintains a dashboard of leading strategic metrics (e.g. value delivered, operational impact, overall speed, quality and cost of delivery, lead time for delivery of urgent needs)
Builds high performing teams that understand and commit to organizational goals; fosters goodwill and collaboration among team members and among teams; uses teams to address relevant issues; leads by example
Actively supports new Rockwell IT programs through participation, engaging, and coaching others. Challenges the status quo and champions new initiatives; acts as a catalyst of change and stimulates others to change.
