The William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy is seeking to fill a one-year research position in the title of Research Associate, whose main responsibilities will be to conduct public opinion polling, to conduct research, and to assist with Hughes Center programs and events. The one-year interim specialist position will start in August 2019. The position holds the potential of a permanent appointment after the year. Experience with academic or commercial survey research preferred.
Stockton Polling Institute activities:
Conduct quality academic research surveys and public opinion polls for the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy; manage research activities of the Stockton Polling Institute on-site telephone survey center, including field work and external vendor services
Draft, write, format, and proof survey questionnaires and reports
Program or oversee programming of questionnaires into Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing applications or Web survey programs including Qualtrics
Conduct or oversee analysis of survey data, including preparing data for processing, performing statistical analysis of the data and reporting results in tables or charts such as frequency tables and crosstabs
Oversee the hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and payroll processing of call center monitors and interviewers, the majority of which are Stockton student workers
Other Hughes Center activities:
Conduct research on issues of New Jersey state or national interest
Assist in or coordinate Hughes Center programs and events
Assist in the development and writing of Hughes Center press releases and reports
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in statistics, research methods, public policy or related field
Professional writing experience
Background in or familiarity with New Jersey politics, government, or public policy
Experience with academic or commercial survey research
