The Director, Event Management is responsible for booking and scheduling all events on Boston College campuses and the Connors Family Retreat and Conference Center. As the primary liaison between the BC Community and campus support and service departments, this key position coordinates the efforts of the Event Management team throughout the planning and execution phases of each function. While providing space management, catering, and lodging oversight, the Director is expected to maximize potential revenue opportunities for the University by meeting budgetary objectives and guidelines. This position is responsible for developing and executing sales goals and strategies to increase event revenues, using performance-based sales techniques. The Director manages all financial aspects of events, including setting pricing, managing room rates, monitoring space inventories, and overseeing revenue collection. In addition, while fostering key University stakeholder relationships, the Director is responsible for establishing strong partnerships with local and regional organizations for greater exposure and promoting potential business opportunities.
This position directly supervises the Associate Director, Event Operations and the General Manager of the Connors Center, providing oversight for successful logistical and operational fulfillment of all contracted functions. The Director provides strong leadership to ensure that all events comply with government regulations and are in compliance with University policies and procedures concerning use of space, alcohol and licensing.
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree (preferably with a concentration in marketing or hospitality). Master's degree, preferred. A minimum of five years of progressive marketing/sales, operations management, and supervisory experience in a high volume hotel/university venue with a proven track record of success, essential.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $97,550 to $121,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
