The School of Dentistry is looking for a reliable Dental Instrument Assistant to join the team. Effective interpersonal and communication skills is essential in all aspects of the position. It is critical that the person in this job understands the importance of infection control procedures and following procedures and policies, recognizes names and uses of dental equipment, and complies with OSHA and UMKC guidelines. Approximately 30% of the day is spent pushing and pulling heavy carts. Duties include but are not limited to:
Periodically perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance checks on various equipment.
Prepare dental cassettes, bur blocks, and other equipment and ensure that the cassettes are complete, sterilized and ready to be checked out for patient treatment.
Prepare dental hand pieces and ensure that they are complete, in proper working order, and ready to be checked out for patient treatment.
Pull equipment twice daily for student mailboxes, load and unload mailboxes and check in unused equipment.
Inventory instruments and sterilize equipment in Graduate Clinics.
Assist with state boards
A high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
Knowledge of dental materials and equipment.
Full Time/Part Time
This is a full-time, 100% benefit-eligible position.
Salary is $11.54-$15.65/hour; commensurate with experience and/or education.
