Assist in the oversight of daily operations within the Center for Accessibility Services Office including staff supervision, test administration and materials conversion. Assist Director in managing fiscal operations including budget, travel, and human resources. Culminate department statistics and retention data for analysis and synthesis to include in Annual Report. Review disability documentation and conduct student interviews to determine eligibility for services and to substantiate requests for reasonable accommodations and use of assistive technology. Package student accommodation requests for reasonable accommodations while maintaining current and accurate case records, notes, and related information in the electronic database and student files. Provide information, referrals, and support to prospective and enrolled students with documented disabilities. Plan, organize and implement awareness events. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that recommended accommodations are appropriate and adhere to ADA Standards, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities relating to reasonable accommodations
Advanced Degree in Disabilities Studies, Rehabilitation, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work or related field or training and experience that equates to an advanced degree. Knowledge of laws governing disability services in higher education. Considerable experience in conducting interviews and providing support services to individuals with disabilities. Experience in supervising service staff and acting as proxy. Appropriate written and verbal communication skills. Applicable organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience in higher education providing accommodations to individuals with disabilities. Experience in planning and coordinating disability awareness events and/or programs. Experience using a variety of adaptive technology and the installation of hardware and software applications. Experience in conducting workshops for students, faculty, and staff at the University level.
