PreCollege programs provide high school students with rigorous college level art, design and creative thinking courses, modeled after Pratt Institute's undergraduate offerings. Classes are taught by Pratt faculty who are committed to sharing their expertise in the fields of art and design. Students enrolled in credit bearing PreCollege classes receive elective credits accepted at Pratt and most colleges and universities.
The PreCollege Program Coordinator works directly with the Program Director to support all aspects of the organization and implementation of the Summer, Fall and Spring PreCollege Programs, in addition to supporting other youth programs as needed. Position expectations are including but not limited to the administration of admissions and registration, faculty and student orientations, lectures, exhibitions, social and cultural events occurring both on and off campus. The position supervises student employees and graduate students who support the program year round. In addition, the Program Coordinator will assist the Program Director in developing and coordinating teacher education programs as needed.
Organize faculty and student employment orientations
Lead student employee orientation
Organize student orientations
Plan art history museum visits
Monitor weekend off-campus and on-campus social and cultural activities
Plan Final exhibition
Review of student applications in DocuWare or other technology tools
Lead faculty meetings to review scholarship applications
Send out admissions decisions
Monitor international student requirements
Organize required forms for respective departments
Review scholarship awards and support Scholarship Committee Meetings
Support hiring of student employees
Supervise over 70 student employees including graduate assistant positions and provide direction to operations and temporary staff.
Monitor program and area task lists with office student employees
Act as head of program on weekends during the month of July
Solve problems/issues collaboratively that may arise to make program run smoother
Keep records of budgets/costs for student employment, honorariums, reimbursements etc.
Oversee hiring paperwork for faculty
Supervises the review process and organization and tracking of all scholarships, including but not limited to merit/need scholarships and partnerships such as Black Alumni at Pratt, Pratt Young Scholars, Scholastic and Questbridge.
Maintain daily email correspondence as well as in person and phone inquiries
Support social media platforms
Ensures continuous advisement and interaction with faculty, administration, students and parents
Takes active role, as needed, to ensure the department catalog and website are updated in a timely fashion
Assists in the development of various SCPS orientation programs and special events as needed
Prepares various reports and assists with special projects and programs as needed
Represents SCPS programs by attending recruitment fairs, trade shows and community events
Analyzes enrollment patterns and uses effective strategies and tactics including marketing opportunities that foster growth
Support registration process
Organize course matrix for registration
Work closely with SCPS operations team and other Pratt departments to ensure the registration process runs smoothly.
Build program/course schedules in coordination with Registrar's office to create schedules and find appropriate studios/rooms
Arrange meetings with prospective students, teachers and departments
Provide leadership and direction for prospective and incoming students and parents; guidance with registration and application process
Communicate with various Pratt departments, i.e. Office of International Affairs, Security Office, Academic Offices, Residential Life and Housing etc.
Offer prospective students campus tours if Admissions tours are not running
Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in art, design, architecture or a related field (Master's degree or equivalent preferred).
Experience: The ideal candidate has experience in education, specifically working with high school students in an educational environment. Some teaching and programming experience would be helpful. Candidate should be familiar with New York City; knowledge of Pratt Institute strongly preferred.
Skills: Google Apps, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, iCloud, experience with main social media platforms (facebook, instagram, twitter) and social tools (tweetdeck, etc.), self-sufficient learning new skills
