To provide a comprehensive, quality IRB/Research Coordinator educational program to researchers and research coordinators throughout the Christiana Care System.
Provides and maintains documentation on all components of the IRB educational program.
Review all IRB submission for accuracy and completeness respective to IRB service line assigned.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides education to researchers and other appropriate individuals about IRB requirements.
Provides program development in accordance with current regulatory requirements.
Prepares and submits reports as required.
Functions as a role model and resource person in the research setting.
Demonstrates awareness of self-learning needs and seeks ways to meet these in order to respond to new educational demands.
Assists with scheduling participants for research training sessions, assures baseline knowledge through orientation, mailings, and individual participant assessments to identify specific goals and needs; develops and maintains program for evaluation and feedback following training sessions; assists in the development of learning resource materials to facilitate the teaching process; assists, when appropriate, with community-based educational efforts.
Coordinates and provides educational programs (lectures, seminars, workshops) focusing on researchers and health care providers.
Collects and maintains appropriate documentation of participants.
Coordinates continuing education credits for various educational programs, providing appropriate documentation.
Increases awareness of program through networking.
Maintains updated Human Subjects Protection curriculum through CITI and assists other presenters with information as requested.
Demonstrates awareness of research activities and integrates information into educational activities.
Participates in appropriate professional organizations.
Represents the IRB on committees as requested.
Acts as a resource/consultant to research community.
Provides assistance as required to the IRB Corporate Director, and Executive Assistant.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Frequent contact with researchers, research coordinators, other departments and health professionals both within Christiana Care and in the community.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two years research experience as a Research Coordinator (e.g. IRB submissions, protocol development, consent) preferred.
One-year experience in education preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Certified Institutional Review Board (IRB) Professional (CIP) status or commitment to achieve this certification as soon as eligible.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of current clinical concepts and practices.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing research including but not limited to 21 CFR 50, 21 CFR50.24, 45 CFR 46 and 45 CFR 164.
Knowledge of CCHS, departmental and unit specific standards, procedures, protocols and policies.
Knowledge of Quality Improvement purpose and process.
Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy.
Ability to maintain open lines of communication with management team and contributes to the effectiveness of the team's efforts to maintain quality research standards.
Ability to identify own areas of need for growth and devises concrete, obtainable short and long term goals.
Ability to demonstrate receptivity to change, constructive feedback, new ideas and "challenges".
Ability to be well organized and self-motivated.
Ability to make decisions and act independently within established guidelines.
