The Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), is one of six product-oriented centers, in addition to a nationwide field force, that carry out the mission of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). FDA is a scientific regulatory agency responsible for the safety of the nations domestically produced and imported foods, cosmetics, drugs, biologics, medical devices, and radiological products.
WHAT WE DO: The Office of Applied Research and Safety Assessment (OARSA) provides Center and Agency leadership in toxicology: reproductive toxicology, neurotoxicology, and in vitro toxicology with special emphasis on developing higher throughput methods in hepatoxicity, neurotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, dermal and nanoparticle toxicity; microbiology, which includes bacterial pathogens, foodborne parasites and viruses, and molecular biology: genetic and biomarkers, microbial genetics, including molecular epidemiology and molecular virology.
What We Are Looking for: Biologists and Chemists that are multifaced in performing work related to:
Molecular biology as it relates to foodborne pathogens
Expertise in toxicology or chemistry related to food adulterants or dietary supplements.
We are looking for PhD or MS candidates to be primary investigators or laboratory technical support with a MS or a BS.
