The Department of Psychology at Queen’s University invites applications for a Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Developmental Science, with a preferred starting date of July 1, 2020.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree completed at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are demonstrated academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will have a research program focused on social development from middle childhood through adolescence. Any topic within this broad area will be considered including, for example, social cognition, peer relationships, social interaction, prosocial behaviour, emotional development, and children's theories of mind. The successful candidate’s research area would complement our existing strengths in social cognition and socioemotional development among current faculty (https://www.queensu.ca/psychology/graduate-program/prospective-students/programs/developmental-program/developmental-faculty). A high degree of collaborative potential is required, which may manifest through cutting-edge research techniques (e.g., biological bases of social behavior), or natural bridges with other areas of the department (e.g., clinical, social, cognitive) or disciplines (e.g., education).
The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centered environment. The successful candidates will be required to make substantive contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is subject to final budgetary approval by the University.
