Under general supervision, this position will supervise and manage all aspects of student entertainment programming conducted by ASLMU, the student government, and also by Mane Entertainment, a program board of 30 student employees that plans and executes approximately 60 on- and off-campus events during the school year. Provide student employees with training and development opportunities in marketing, customer service, vendor relations, and event coordination. Facilitate and encourage students of Mane Entertainment and ASLMU to grow and enjoy another dimension of student life as they provide a positive, community-building service for their LMU peers.
Typically a Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, business, or related field or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of best practices and policy changes.
Minimum of three years of varied programming experience, preferably in a university setting. Previous student activities or student union management experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and conduct training programs and previous supervision experience is also necessary.
Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: the purpose and mission of Jesuit higher education and the University's institutional commitment to the Catholic tradition; familiarity with student work-study programs; developmental needs of college students; college activity event planning; principles of management and staff supervision; community public relations; and conflict management/problem solving techniques.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; copy editing and layout; oral presentations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills.
Must possess the ability to effectively supervise the work of a large student staff in providing customer service and satisfaction to student audience of Mane Entertainment and ASLMU's programs. Provide assistance to students with all logistical and operational aspects of small and large-scale programs. Provide sound counsel and be a positive role model for students. Must be a strong manager with proven supervisory abilities. Quickly learn and use facility vendor resources on and off campus. Work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
