Major Duties: General summary: Ensures regulatory compliance with all federal, state and institutional student aid programs while providing maximum training support to SFA staff, university colleagues, and other stakeholders. - Provides guidance and direction in many key areas that affect systems, operations, processes and regulations related to Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Registrar, Admissions and Student Success offices as well as other critical stakeholders at the university. - Acts as the primary conduit for all compliance and regulatory activities concerning financial aid. - Monitors regulatory and administrative requirements for Title IV federal student aid programs, identifies regulatory changes and systematic problems, briefs the office of recently adopted regulations, proposes solutions and timetables for effectively implementing changes for the University. - Responsible for developing and maintaining the Financial Aid policies and procedures manual. Partners with each unit within the Student Financial Aid office, updates/communicates changes to ensure regulatory compliance and requirements for Title IV federal student aid programs. - Monitors and oversees all federal verification and FAFSA processes. Serves on a team who creates forms and documents to communicate financial aid requirements. Supports the systems team in yearly Banner updates and testing to properly administer financial aid according to regulatory requirements. - Performs random quality assurance testing on the processing and compliance of financial aid files. Reviews findings and may conduct training and update procedures.- Participates in research, data analysis, and coordination for annual financial aid audits, FISAP, and any State or Federal program review. May serve as the lead representative for the FAQs during reviews, and assist in post-audit responses. - Coordinates the training program for the Student Financial Aid office. Supervises the Training and Compliance professional staff. - Serves as program lead for Gainful Employment, Certificate Programs, Consortium Agreements, Consumer Information, and investigations (FBI, Legal Affairs). Performs various Student Financial Aid reports tasks, and information requests including but not limited to student death notices, student conduct referrals, disbursement error reports, packaging error reports, referrals and questions from other campus departments.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or higher in related field from an accredited institution.- Five years' relevant experience.- Demonstrated experience in customer service, compliance and training. - Supervisory or lead experience. - Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and guidelines governing Title IV aid programs. - Demonstrated experience in project management. - Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.- Ability to use technology effectively and work independently to meet deadlines. - Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. - Strong desire to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
