The Principal Auditor position is highly responsible and advanced professional work in the City Auditor's office. Some tasks to be performed may include but not be limited to:
Establishing audit objectives;
Taking a consultative approach to audit scope and approach;
Analyzing and evaluating data using generally accepted quantitative methods;
Interfacing with external CPA firms conducting audits of the General Government and Gainesville Regional Utilities financial statements;
Synthesizing information into meaningful audit findings;
Preparing formal reports of audit findings and recommendations; and
Assisting the City Auditor in presenting to management, City Commission and the Audit Committee. AA/DFWP/EOE/VP
To be considered for the Principal Auditor position you must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting and six (6) years progressively responsible auditing experience, including four (4) years in governmental, public accounting or university auditing.
Required auditing experience must have been using standards from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS – Yellow book), or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA – Red book).
Two years of experience must include significant work following AICPA standards or working with GASB pronouncements or implementations.
A current Certified Public Accountant license is required.
